Castle Christmas takes place at King John's Castle, Limerick City.
When is Castle Christmas running?
Castle Christmas runs from 21 November to 23 December 2026, Tuesday to Sunday.
What are the opening hours?
Weekdays: 2pm – 7pm. Weekends: 9am – 7pm. The event is closed on Mondays.
How long does the experience last?
The Castle Christmas experience lasts approximately 75 minutes.
What does my child's ticket include?
A child's ticket includes the full Castle Christmas experience, including the immersive journey, hat and name badge, meeting festive characters and doing activities, meeting Santa, Santa's gift, the Castle Christmas token, the Teddy Bear Workshop and a teddy bear to take home. Children can personalise their teddy bear's Christmas T-shirt during the workshop.
Does every child get a teddy bear?
Yes. Every child ticket includes a teddy bear which children can personalise at the Teddy Bear Workshop and take home.
Do adults get a teddy bear?
No. The teddy bear is included with the child ticket.
Can adults take part in the experience?
Absolutely. Castle Christmas is designed as an experience for families to enjoy together. Adults are part of the journey and can explore the castle, meet the characters, take part in the adventure and experience the meeting with Santa alongside their children.
What does the adult ticket include?
Adult tickets include access to the full Castle Christmas experience, including the immersive environments, characters, activities and meeting Santa. The teddy bear is included with child tickets only.
What does the baby ticket include?
Babies will receive an age appropriate gift.
Is Santa included?
Yes. Meeting Santa is part of the Castle Christmas experience and is included with your ticket.
Will Santa know my child's name?
Santa will know something special about your child using an individual fact supplied by parents in advance.
Can I add a personalised invitation?
Yes. The Castle Christmas Invitation Pack can be added to your booking as an optional extra. It is delivered to your home in a personalised red envelope addressed to your child, and includes a personalised invitation, a novelty Santa ticket and a special Castle Christmas gift.
Can I buy an activity pack?
Yes. Activity packs are available as an optional extra.
Can I get photographs taken?
Yes. Professional Christmas photographs are available as an optional extra.
Is there a booking fee?
Yes. A €1.50 booking fee per item applies to all tickets.
Can I buy tickets on the day?
Yes, if there are tickets available.
Do I need to book a specific time?
Yes. Tickets are sold for specific arrival times to help families enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.
How many people are in each time slot?
There will be a maximum of 20 visitors per time slot.
Is Castle Christmas suitable for young children?
Castle Christmas has been designed as a family-focused Christmas experience for little and big explorers.
Is Castle Christmas accessible?
Yes. Castle Christmas is fully accessible, and our team is on hand throughout the experience to assist visitors where needed. Due to the historic nature and layout of King John's Castle, there are some points where visitors using lifts may need to take a different route through the experience. This may mean that your group is separated momentarily while using the lifts, but staff will be there to assist and ensure you are reunited with your group as quickly as possible. Can I bring a pram?
While we discourage bringing a pram where possible, Castle Christmas is fully accessible, and our team is on hand throughout the experience to assist visitors who do need to use a pram. Due to the historic nature and layout of King John's Castle, there are some points where visitors using prams will have to use lifts, and may need to take a different route through the experience. This may mean that your group is separated momentarily while using the lifts, but staff will be there to assist and ensure you are reunited with your group as quickly as possible.
